Interactive & SSD: Blasts from the Future

Forrester Research recently released this "news" about the future of Interactive Marketing...big news (but expected).  Why is this relevant to the investment world? Did Groupon read this?  "We expect this [interactive] growth to help firms become adaptive, kill off daily deals..."

CTO of Panasas, Inc. Garth Gibson gives pause to the future of Seagate, Western Digital and other "hard drive" manufacturers.  As if tens of millions of Flash-based iPods, iPads & iPhones weren't clue enough, Gibson defines reasons why High Performance Computing (HPC), which leads the way into the future for the computing industry, will need to consider further use of Solid State Disks (SSD's).

Shiny Finnish on Them AAPLs

[guest post by TS]

Folks, sorry for the blogging equivalent to a comedienne's one-liners, but will Apple be making deals with both the devil and RIMM, after their licensing deal with Nokia???  Actually, making deals with the bad guy isn't really necessary for Apple, since their CEO owns a chunk of Disney stock, and the leader of their retail stores is now leading an old name in retail, JC Penney ($JCP), giving the iPod/iPad invention machine a potential new market....

AAPL Floating on iCloud Ten

[guest post by TS]

You may have been living under an iRock these last few years, as the world experienced its first (2nd?) iRecession.  Perhaps you didn't know that iAAPL has been recreating the word "revolution" - using a "smart" version of that thing popularized by Nokia and Motorola, the mobile phone, to entice customers into their iStores, where a bunch of iPods and iMacs were waiting to be purchased.

Well, welcome to the future folks, where we will not only be living under the iCloud, but listening to our music from it, streaming our documents from it, recording our HD video to it, and backing up our brains to it with a wet-link.  Now, it looks like Apple couldn't secure the iCloud.com domain - that links over to www.cloudme.com, an iCloud look-alike put together by Swedish/American company xcerion.  But, don't worry--why do you think Apple has billions in it's warchest?

(oops, spoke too soon - the page now redirects to http://www.cloudme.com/en?m=1?m=1?m=1?m=1?m=1?m=1?m=1)  [NB: icloud.com no longer redirects to cloudme.com - icloud.com is now Apple's!  :-]

Do you think Apple is right? from the floor of this morning's WWDC, in San Fran:

11:07 am Lots of customers saying they want an iPad or iPhone as their only device.
11:07 am "We're living in a post-PC world."
